Plant has purple tips & is very compact.

I also have Mermaids Gem seedling from Thailand seeds.
Dave has a few from me. Mine I have to check but I think both these have the hook.

I'm wondering if Mermaids Gem could be a Penang Seedling?

Yeah, :P

I'm in love again...really always wanted a dark red.
My seedling no resemblance to Barrys Textured Tri Color
Barry did say the parent had a very strong scent
Have to check that out.

Even better...its a winner in my book.

So hot out there. I have to get a stepstool to see what its scent is. Guess I'll wait til it fully opens

See the dark red burgundy maroon

The dark color captured.

YEAH!

Photo of Parent Textured Tricolor from Barry Ng

http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/9951/textri.jpg

Guessing thick texture & I remember him saying it had a very strong scent & thats what attracted me.

Anyone else remember details on this one or have the parent?

I think Lopaka has it & he thought it was Thai Mermaids Gem

What a rich, velvety looking flower - very luxurious looking, how exciting! So you have a few "keeper" seedlings, don't you? Great job!
